This Fair Isle Beanie chart was written for up to 5 color changes. But as seen in my photos, you can choose fewer if you wish, the color combinations are virtually endless!

Color 1:Oatmeal, Colors 2 and 5: Fisherman, Colors 3 and 4: Crushed Violets
Needles: 10mm circular
Yarn: Lion Brand Thick and Quick in Fisherman, Cranberry, Butterscotch, & Navy
Cast-on 48 stitches to start – I’ve noticed my Fair Isle hats fit more tightly (probably due to all the “extra” carry-along yarn inside the hat) so I use bigger needles and no less than 48 sts cast on.

When it’s the length you like:
