Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick in Fisherman and Black Colorways
Hook Size: K/6.5mm
Pattern by the talented Instagram designer @nohooksgiven – she gives instructions for a Medium and a Large size. I made this in the Large size.
I got this pattern in a 30 Days of Cozy $10 pattern bundle deal posted on IG in November but you can visit her on FB or Etsy.

I do LOVE this basket, I made the large size from the pattern instead of the medium because I planned to use it for blankets, pillows, soft goods like yarn or whatever and it’s a really nice big basket!

Sharing just a few thoughts about this project:
I’m a pretty experienced crocheter but when I finished the bottom and started up the sides, I wished I had switched to an 8mm hook and just put a few decreases in to accommodate the larger hook size. Because you are carrying along the black (or your chosen secondary color of yarn), often times the 6.5mm hook was catching the black as I yarned over the white and pulled through that extra bulk; a larger hook would have made this less troublesome. Also, the small hook size was just so tight while working the waistcoat stitches. In general, I was mostly frustrated because it just went a lot slower than I expected. I had to work slowly to place the hook, pull the yarn through, not to mention following the graph.
A few things about the pattern:
There are 30 rows, the pattern mentions Row 30 twice then skips to row 49? I think that’s just a mistake. In Row 30, I used a SC. Then for Row 31, I went around the top with the crab stitch called for.
I accidentally skipped one black stitch in the snowflake and didn’t catch it until I finished. I went back and stitched over my white with a black “V” pretty easily so don’t get too upset if you miss a stitch or two, it’s fairly easy to correct and it’s just a basket, so I tied it inside and called it fixed.
